Brownstone Fireplace Reconstruction and Restoration

Brownstone Fireplace Reconstruction and Restoration

A decommissioned fireplace in a historic brownstone brought back to life with a new firebrick firebox, rebuilt masonry and a reinstalled stainless steel liner.

This project involved the complete reconstruction and reactivation of an original, previously decommissioned fireplace within a historic brownstone. Our team carefully opened and prepared the existing masonry structure, addressing deteriorated and previously altered areas while preserving the character of the original brick chimney.

A brand-new functional firebox was constructed within the existing fireplace opening, using high-temperature masonry materials and firebrick. The work required precise masonry layout, structural rebuilding of the fireplace opening and integration of the new firebox with the existing chimney system.

The scope included preparation and stabilization of the original masonry, rebuilding of damaged sections, installation and alignment of the new firebrick firebox and professional mortar work to create a durable fireplace assembly ready for final finishing. A stainless steel chimney liner was reinstalled as well.
